Terminal Monitoring is an unusual feature which most users will not need. It is, however, very useful for reporting terminal emulation bugs to TOPS, as well as for seeing exactly what has happened on a terminal session.
With the Monitor preference activated, two files are made for each session. One is the ordinary TOPS Terminal session transcript and the other is the monitor file. The monitor file contains an exact copy of the characters received from the other computer. A monitor file can be played back by opening it.
Pressing the "Cancel" button when asked for the monitor file name does not cancel the connection, only the monitoring.
